Enrolling for Two-Factor Authentication
We recommend setting up Two-Factor Authentication, which adds an extra layer of security to your account. When enabled, you will need to enter your account password and a special verification code sent to your phone via text, voice, or mobile app. This code is specific to your account and changes each time you sign in.
- Sign in to your account.
- In the top-right corner of the page, hover over your profile icon and click Account Settings.
- In the Two-Factor Authentication section, click Set Up.
If you see the option Verify Your Email, it may be because your email address has not been verified by Norton. Click this option to receive a verification email. Open the email you received and click the Confirm Now link to proceed with the two-factor authentication setup. The verification email will have the following details: - From: no-reply@nortonlifelock.com
- Subject: Welcome to Norton Secure Login - Confirm Email Address
- Choose one of the primary verification methods as explained below.
You must set up two methods (primary and backup) and can change them at any time by signing in to your account. - To use an authenticator app:
- Select Mobile Authenticator App and then click Next.
- Download an authenticator app from Google Play or the App Store, or open an existing authenticator app on your phone and do the following:
- Scan the QR code on the screen with your authenticator app to register your account.
- Enter the six-digit code displayed on the authenticator app.
- To use a security key:
- Select Security Key and then click Next.
- Connect the security key to the USB port of your device.
- Push or touch the button on the security key.
- To receive the code as a message or voice on your mobile:
- Select Mobile Phone Number and then click Next.
- Enter your mobile number to receive the code via SMS. To receive the code as a voice message, click Call Me with a Code.
- Enter the six-digit code you received and click Verify.
- Click Continue.
- You will see 10 single-use security codes that can be used to log in to your account if you have trouble receiving the two-factor security codes on your phone. Click Download or Print to save the backup codes.
- Click Finish.
- To Set Up a Backup Method:
- Next to Backup Methods, click Add a New Method.
- Choose one of the backup methods for receiving the code. Depending on your choice, follow the relevant steps above to set up the method.
- The backup method is used if your primary method does not work, so choose a different method than the one set up as the primary. For example, if you selected Mobile Authenticator App as the primary method, choose Mobile Phone Number or Security Key as the backup method.
- Click Finish.
