Enabling the Norton Family Browser Extension

Enabling the Norton Family Browser Extension

The Norton Family browser extension is a small, essential program required for certain Norton Family features to function properly. It is currently available for Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Microsoft Edge. To ensure full protection, you must enable the extension on all supported browsers that your child uses to access the Internet. The following features rely on the extension:
  1. Search supervision for HTTPS sites
  2. Video supervision
  3. Web supervision for HTTPS sites
Features like time supervision and instant lock will still operate even if the extension is disabled. However, if your child's PC is running Norton Family version 3.7.3 or later, an additional layer of security is provided. Norton Family will display a browser-specific block page even if your child attempts to bypass the extension by tampering with it, launching incognito or private browsing modes, or using unsupported third-party browsers to visit a blocked website.

For optimal protection, ensure the extension is always enabled on your child’s browsers. If your child disables or uninstalls the Norton Family browser extension, you will receive a notification.
